Position Summary

The Manager Supply Chain Distribution – Greater Kansas has these major responsibilities: manages and oversees supply chain storeroom functions, supply contract compliance, compliance with regulatory and certifying agencies’ standards and clinical quality value analysis committee; participates in the evaluation and selection of products, supplies, space, and capital equipment; daily operations management and leadership of the department which supports the hospital facility, off-site clinics, business offices, courier services and storage buildings; collaborates with hospital leaders, contractors, service technicians, sales representatives and vendors to develop comprehensive plans for efficient and effective operations; participates in planning, data collection, and the preparation of reports as appropriate; serves as a resource and mentor; selects, orients, supervises, manages and evaluates all staff members; develops operational and capital budgets and maintains financial operations; evaluates and maintains fair market value for outreach service pricing; develops policies, procedures, and protocols to maintain standards of care and regulatory requirements; serves as a liaison between staff, other medical personnel and outreach facilities; and provides leadership in problem-solving and team building.

Essential Functions:

  • Provides positive leadership by an environment of teamwork, open communication and customer service.
  • Responsible for human resources processes including interviewing and orientating staff, ongoing performance management and timekeeping/scheduling and required documentation.
  • Assists in developing financial budget to achieve corporate strategies and financial targets, manages areas of responsibility to optimize revenue and reduce costs.
  • Assists in managing policies and work instructions for compliance with regulatory standards and to improve the overall operation of the facility.

  • Manages and ensures that the staff’s performance follows policies and procedures; serves as a technical and clinical advisor regarding procedures and equipment; creates, reviews, and revises policies, procedures, and protocols as required; develops department specific policies and procedures for safety, security, authority, infection control, personal protective equipment, equipment operation, operating processes, emergency preparedness and orientation, initial training and on-going training.
  • Manages and facilitates the establishment and implementation of plans, operations, programs and growth of service; uses knowledge of the industry to assist in developing short and long term strategy, taking into account the organization’s strengths and weaknesses; identifies new opportunities, gathers sufficient information to make an informed decision, evaluates the risks and opportunities associated with them, considers the long-range potential consequences and makes good decisions; effectively promotes important programs/projects; and influences others to make the program/project a priority.
  • Works collaboratively with direct reports and staff in the prospective assessment of technology for services; develops a long range equipment replacement plan that links to the Medical Center strategic plan and presents a basis for becoming a high quality, low cost provider of services.
  • Oversees or directly delegates responsibility for maintenance schedules on equipment and ensures that equipment is safe for patients and personnel; directs the establishment and performance of quality control procedures to meet regulatory standards and accrediting requirements; responsible for the cleanliness, sterility and operation of all equipment, traffic control and infection control necessary to establish a proper environmental standard for the department; directs personnel in compliance with safety methods, including disaster and emergency procedures; participates in post-event debriefings and provides constructive input to improve the processes; serves as a role model by performing in a professional manner while under pressure; and ensures that staff and others are educated regarding their roles and required actions.
  • Meets with department leaders to review new capital and minor equipment requests; researches information and pricing; negotiates pricing, delivery payments, etc.; update capital spreadsheet when orders are placed; forwards updated paperwork to accounting; receives and tracks storage of equipment acquisitions for building projects or special projects; and coordinates and orders interior signage.

Credential required:


Certificate, license or registration


·          Bachelor Degree or commensurate years of experience

·          Three years of inventory control or healthcare supply experience

·          3 years of supervisor/manager experience
